A Springtime Resourcing Moment

I love all the vibrant spring colors that come with new growth and shifting weather as winter totally melts away. What color resonates with you most right now?

Rather than thinking too deeply about why a particular color speaks to you most…see if you can continue to simply and softly notice this color throughout your day…whether on a walk outside or chilling on the couch.

**somatic tip: Noticing colors in the present moment can help deactivate the stress parts of your brain (amygdala) and help activate the parts of your brain involved in increased emotional regulation and memory (hippocampus) and increased cognitive functions like decision making and planning (prefrontal cortex)!! This shift in brain activity can further calm down your nervous system and usher you into a relaxed, yet present state—an ideal state of being if you ask me!

Remember, any sort of sensory work (aka mindfully noticing colors), can be activating or resourcing depending on your lived experiences. So gently engage with this resource, and if it feels overwhelming, ditch the practice and turn your attention to something soothing, neutral, or distracting.

If you have space in your day, take a moment outside and see what color catches your eye—there you are, actually practicing mindfulness in an accessible and easy way. Don’t underestimate the regulating nature of simply noticing colors
